Casino du Lac-Leamy

A lakeside floor across the river from Ottawa, with the best hotel-and-spa pairing of any casino in Canada.

Overview

Casino du Lac-Leamy sits on the shore of Lac Leamy in Gatineau, ten minutes from Parliament Hill, with the 349-room Hilton Lac-Leamy attached by an indoor walkway. It is the closest thing Canada has to a European casino resort: water on three sides, a formal building, a serious spa and a floor that stays quiet enough to hear the dealer.

The casino carries roughly 1,800 slot machines and 65 tables. Loto-Québec operates it, and as in Montreal the tone is institutional rather than commercial — no loyalty-card hard sell, clear responsible gambling material, and a floor that closes at a civilised hour.

The hotel is what pushes the score up. The Hilton here is among the best hotels attached to a casino anywhere in the country, with a spa, a large pool complex and lake-facing rooms that have nothing to do with gaming at all.

Live dealer tables through the pit, plus electronic table terminals.
High rollers & VIP
Private gaming salons with dedicated hosts, VIP service and access tied to the Hilton's suite inventory.

Machine and table counts are approximate and were last checked in July 2026. Licensed gaming in Quebec is overseen by the Loto-Québec, with the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux.

Hotel & resort

The Hilton Lac-Leamy runs to 349 rooms and is genuinely a destination hotel. There is a large indoor-outdoor pool complex, a full spa, a conference centre used by both federal and private clients, and lake-facing rooms that are worth the small premium. The walkway to the casino means you never go outside in February.

On site

  • 349-room Hilton hotel
  • Full spa and treatment rooms
  • Indoor and outdoor pool complex
  • Conference and banquet centre
  • Theatre and cabaret space
  • Lakeside grounds and walking paths

Dining

Le Baccara
A five-diamond dining room and the best restaurant attached to any casino in Canada.
Banco
Casual all-day dining beside the floor.
Arôme
The Hilton's grill room, strong on steak and seafood.
Bars and lounge
Including a terrace over the lake in summer.

Entertainment

The theatre programmes concerts and cabaret through the year, and the grounds host the region's summer fireworks competition over the lake, which fills the hotel months in advance. Ottawa's own venues are ten minutes away across the river.

  • Calm, well-run floor with an 18+ minimum

  • Fireworks weekends sell out the hotel and fill the grounds

Verdict

8.6 editorial score out of 10
Gatineau, Quebec

The digest's pick for a couple's weekend rather than a gambling trip. Stay at the Hilton, use the spa, eat at Le Baccara and treat the casino floor as the quiet, well-mannered thing it is.
