Casino hotel review · Last checked June 2026
A small waterfront floor with a hotel directly above it and the whole of downtown Halifax outside the door.
Casino Nova Scotia occupies the ground level of the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront, directly on the boardwalk. The floor is small — roughly 600 slot machines and 25 tables across about 45,000 square feet — and it is entirely the wrong reason to come.
The right reason is the setting. This is a proper harbourfront hotel with 310 rooms, a pool, a spa and the Halifax boardwalk immediately outside; the casino floor is a genuinely pleasant amenity rather than the purpose of the building. In a category dominated by highway complexes and suburban boxes, that is unusual.
The property also holds the only show lounge of its kind in the Maritimes' largest city, with a schedule of comedy and live music through the year. Nova Scotia's minimum gaming age is 19.
Machine and table counts are approximate and were last checked in June 2026. Licensed gaming in Nova Scotia is overseen by the Nova Scotia Provincial Lotteries and Casino Corporation.
The Halifax Marriott Harbourfront holds roughly 310 rooms and is the best-located hotel in the city — on the boardwalk, walking distance to everything downtown, with an indoor pool, fitness centre and harbour-facing rooms. It functions as a business hotel through the week and a leisure one at weekends.
The Schooner Showroom programmes comedy, live music and touring acts through the year, and is one of the more active mid-size rooms in Atlantic Canada. Tickets are public and separate from the casino floor.
The most liveable casino hotel in the country. Come to Halifax for Halifax; the floor downstairs is a good hour before dinner, not a destination in itself.
