Casino hotel review · Last checked May 2026
A highway hotel with a casino built into it, on the southern approach to Calgary.
Deerfoot Inn & Casino is exactly what its name says: a 190-room hotel on Deerfoot Trail with a casino floor, a banquet centre and a large sports bar attached. It is the least glamorous property in this digest and one of the most used, because it sits on the main southern approach into Calgary and does a straightforward job.
The floor runs roughly 700 slot machines and 20 tables across about 50,000 square feet. Minimums are low, the room is bright and the crowd is local. Alberta's 18+ rule applies.
It earns its entry as the honest end of the category. Nobody flies to Calgary for this property, but as a place to break a drive, hold a conference or spend an evening at a blackjack table without spending resort money, it works.
Machine and table counts are approximate and were last checked in May 2026. Licensed gaming in Alberta is overseen by the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC).
The 190-room hotel is comfortable and unfussy, with a pool, a fitness room and a large banquet and conference operation that is genuinely the property's main business. Rooms are well below Calgary's downtown rates and quieter than the highway location suggests.
There is no theatre. Entertainment here means the sports bar on a game night and whatever the banquet centre is hosting, which ranges from trade shows to wedding receptions.
A useful property rather than a memorable one. Book it for the convenience, the price or the conference; book Grey Eagle if the casino floor is the reason you are in Calgary.
