Casino hotel review · Last checked June 2026
Tsuut'ina Nation property on Calgary's southwest edge, with the city's busiest casino floor and a 2,000-seat event centre.
Grey Eagle is owned and operated by the Tsuut'ina Nation on land immediately southwest of Calgary, and it has grown into the busiest casino floor in the city. The 2018 hotel addition — 176 rooms with mountain views from the upper floors — turned what was a large local casino into a genuine casino hotel.
The floor covers about 100,000 square feet with roughly 1,200 slot machines and 40 tables. Alberta's 18+ minimum applies. Attached to it is a 2,000-seat event centre that books a national touring calendar, plus a conference space that fills through the week.
The property is close enough to Calgary to work as a city hotel and far enough out to have mountain sightlines, which is a combination nothing else in the province offers.
Machine and table counts are approximate and were last checked in June 2026. Licensed gaming in Alberta is overseen by the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC).
The 176-room hotel opened in 2018 and remains the newest casino hotel accommodation in Alberta. Rooms are large and quiet, and the west-facing upper floors look toward the Rockies. There is a pool, a fitness centre and indoor access to the casino and event centre.
The 2,000-seat event centre programmes concerts, comedy and community events year-round and is one of the better mid-size venues in the Calgary market. Powwow and cultural events organised by the Nation also use the space.
The strongest casino hotel in southern Alberta and a straightforward recommendation for a Calgary weekend. Ask for a west-facing room on a high floor and check the event calendar before booking.
