Overview

Hard Rock Casino Vancouver is in Coquitlam, not Vancouver, which is worth knowing before you book. It is a well-run suburban property built around a 1,000-seat theatre, with roughly 900 slot machines and 60 tables across about 70,000 square feet of floor.

The hotel is adjacent rather than integrated — a separate building a short walk across the site — so this is not a casino hotel in the same sense as River Rock or Fallsview. What it does have is the best mid-size music venue in the eastern suburbs and a floor that stays busy without ever feeling like a crush.

For a Metro Vancouver visitor without a car it is reachable on the Evergreen SkyTrain extension, which puts it about forty minutes from downtown. That is far enough to change the character of the crowd: this is a local room, and the better for it.
